Pohatu Penguins

I was invited along to photograph and write about my experience with the penguin evening tour at Pohatu Penguins. They are home to the largest Australasian little colony on mainland New Zealand. Read about my experience here.

Sanctuary Mountain Maungatautari

Sanctuary Mountain is home to one of the largest pest-proof fenced projects in the world. I was invited along to their forest tour where I learned about some very special plants that can be found in this native bush, about the project and their conservation mission. Collective Canvas is an awesome New Zealand shoe company which puts sustainability first. I was gifted a pair of their shoes and took them into the green hues of the forest. To find out more about this cool company, check them out here

Zealandia Te Māra a Tāne

Zealandia was the first of its kind. The first fully fenced eco sanctuary. Home to many of our special flora and fauna, including kaka, tui, and tieke. I was invited along to one of their twilight tours where we shared kawakawa tea while listening to the calls of the forest at night. We even got to see a little spotted kiwi.
